The Lesson Program
The focus of our lesson program is teaching safety, good horsemanship,
professionalism and excellence in riding skill. We value having
a close knit, family environment at the barn.
We have lesson horses to accomodate the newest beginner through
more advanced levels. New riders are always started in private lessons,
and moved into 2 rider lessons as soon as they are able, and a spot
with a rider of their level is available. One on one, personalized
instruction is very important to us.
Riders do not start jumping until they have become proficient riders
on the flat, and have moved into 2 lessons per week. Safety and
building a good foundation are extremely important to us at Ridgemark
Farm.
Children can start "fun" lessons as young as 4 years
old if they have exceptional focus and are truly horse crazy. We
have both children and adults in our lesson program, some are very
new to riding and some have been riding for many, many years.
We are also happy to have many of the UCSC riding team riders as
part of our lesson program.
Rates
Lessons are offered Tuesdays through Saturdays.
Lessons are $55.
Many riders are on the monthly tuition plan, with once weekly lessons
costing $200/month, 2x per week $360/month and 3x per week $480/month.
If students trailer in with their own horse, there is an additional
charge.
Leasing
Occassionally half lease and quarter lease arrangements are available
when we have the right fit between horse and rider. Leasing is a
great way for riders to transition from the lesson program into
starting to show, and into horse ownership.
Prospective students are always welcome to come and watch lessons,
and to meet us!
